Laptop Check-In & Check-Out Instructions

If you would like to check out or check in one of our laptops, please do the following:

  • Come into the center and scan the Laptop Sharing Service QR Code
  • Follow the instructions to fill out the form to reserve any of the eight (8) MacBook Air or three (3) Dell Laptops for temporary use within the Center premises or for short-term usage.
  • Once you have completed the form, find a Pro-staff or student staff to sign off and submit your student ID in exchange for the equipment, and must be used inside the space unless explicitly stated otherwise by the Director or Program Coordinator. 

NOTE: the CBCRR loaner laptops are not for long-term use. You can only loan a laptop for short-term use (1-3 days) at a time for a max of 3 weeks per quarter. You must return the next day(s) at 10am from the check-out date. If you need an extension, you will need to re-check out the laptop. 

Laptops are to be returned to Adisa Ajamu (Director), Niobe Duke (Program Coordinator), or any CBCRR student staff before leaving the Center.

The reservation is complete when the equipment is returned to Adisa Ajamu (Director), Niobe Duke (Program Coordinator), or any CBCRR student staff and you have retrieved your student ID.

ALL LAPTOPS ARE DUE THE NEXT DAY AT 9AM FROM THE CHECK-OUT DATE UNLESS STATED OTHERWISE!!!


Terms and Conditions for Laptop Reservation

1. Once you fill out the Laptop Reservation form, it assigns primary responsibility for center laptops to the borrower. The borrower will be responsible for the return of the equipment in the condition it was received. The borrower is responsible for taking the necessary precautions to protect the equipment and to store it in a manner that provides adequate protection when it is not in use, thus not subjecting the equipment to possible loss, theft or damage.

2. If loss or damage of the equipment/property occurs and a determination is made that the loss or damage as a result of negligence, the borrower may be held financially responsible for the repair or replacement of the item(s) and borrowing privileges will be revoked for the rest of the year. Reimbursement to the center by the borrower will be based on the fair market value of the equipment/property at the time of loss.

3. The student may secure a computer Monday: 9am-6pm, Tuesday: 9am-7pm, Wednesday: 9am-4pm, Thursday: 9am-7pm, & Friday: 11am-4pm, by filling out this form and leaving their student ID with the Director or Program Coordinator. All equipment must be returned to the center by 4:00 pm. Failure to return the computer by the designated time will result in the revocation of the privilege to check out a laptop in the future. The computer is not to be taken out of the Center or home.

4. Laptop/Equipment cannot be loaned or transferred to a third party. Students are NOT allowed to loan the laptop to other students. Failure to abide by this policy will result in revocation of privileges and if damaged, the borrower will be charged.
If the computer has any operational problems, you should notify us immediately and it should be returned to the center with the condition noted as soon as possible.

5. The borrower cannot modify the equipment in any way without the written approval of the Center Director or their designee. This includes adding applications, add-ons and/or extensions.

6. The borrower will make the equipment available at any time as requested by CBCRR.

7. Prior to checking out a loaner laptop, this form must be reviewed by the borrower and the Director or Program Coordinator.
